Frøsselers, or Frøsselmen, can be seen as a culture that remains heavily their own, having mostly avoided Trinitine influence and annexation. They are seen to preserve the older forms of the northern cultures of Vilheim and Crace, with an almost alien intensity.

A proudly literate people, ink is harvested in great amounts and the northern beaches are often filled shore to sea with walrus vellum. Tattooing themselves and their livestock to determine clan heritage or personal expression is common to ubiquitous depending on where you are in Frøsselanding and it’s not uncommon to see runic love poetry or warding spells etched all over the flanks and face of a (largely unbothered) cow or goat.

Subtypes

  • Northern Frøsselers, this is where the real weirdos are
  • Southern Frøsselers, the more metropolitan (if you can call it that)
  • Storropgängers (but never say that to them!)

Religion and Philosophy

Most mainlander Frøsselmen believe that all concepts abstract and mundane are given existence by words, and in recital and contemplation of their sounds and tonal properties they are given form. It is not uncommon to see a toothless Skravel spending weeks in hermitage making brand new sounds for words that upon his uttering he believes will shape reality.

Freia

Alternative names: Fra-Ia, Freyja, FRJJJ, Freik, Freya

The Mother In-Between. Goddess of knowledge, mystery and motherhood, Freia is considered the ineffable translation of the written word to its pronunciation. Often depicted as immaculately conceived, she holds “The Girls of One or Many” - that infinitely bridge the gap between meaning and representation. In typical Frøsseler mystery fashion, this is considered metaphorical - to deliver her pregnancy is to produce another answer, or alternatively many competing ones, holding with them more mystery irreducible to that which came before.

Alloth

Alternate names: Alloth Empty-Helm, Alocoloth, ALLLL, The Allard Loth

The god of war and freedom. Very appealing to the Frøsselmen, where freedom is as much about imposing your will on others as it is breaking those who impose theirs on you.

Ilmak

Alternate names: Ilmak Orkey, The Ill-Mater, Ilmak Born-A-Man

A trickster god and apotropaei, said to be the cause of the Orcism trait in humans.

Trinitine worshippers consider him to be made up by the Frøssellers as an intentional mockery of The Ilmatian, but one or two tales said match up to

The Tale of Ilmak Born-A-Man

A common Frøsseller tale claiming how Ilmak brought Orcism to humanity:

Ilmak Born-A-Man was said to be born from a man (in a time when men didn’t have the word for “man”) who consorted in a union with a walrus cow so his progeny would be the strongest alive. Ilmak was just that, standing 15 feet tall with tusks that grew long and dug up the ground as he walked. Ilmak travelled far and wide and went on many adventures, many of which are made up on the spot to appease agitated children before bed. Most famously he was said to have wrestled every clansman in the world, every greatsnake and greatbird, every whale and walrus, even the volcano Storropgäng itself, and won. However his victories bore him no prizes (mainly because people didn’t have a word for that yet either), and his great ugliness meant no woman would consort with him. So to spite every other man they favoured, Ilmak spoke an unknown word: “That-In-Which-You-Become-The-Million-Sperms”, which being the first to ever utter, shaped his on body just so, and he crawled into the testicles of every man on earth, and to this day every baby has a chance of being an “Orkey-child”
